Configuring Dial-Up for Windows 2000

  1. From the Start menu, click Settings, and choose Control Panel.

  2. Double-click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.

  3. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

  4. Click the Next button.

  5. Select Dial-up to the Internet.

  6. Click the Next button.

  7. Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN).

  8. Click the Next button.

  9. Click the I connect through a phone line and a modem radio button in the How do you connect to the Internet? area.

  10. Click the Next button.

  11. Click the down arrow on the Select a modem to use to connect to the Internet drop-down list and choose your modem.

  12. Click the Next button.

  13. In the Area code field, type the area code for the access number you wish to dial.

  14. In the Telephone number field, type the access number you wish to dial. An access number can be found at http://www.pixelgate.net/dialuplocations.jsp.

    Please check with your local telephone company to make sure that the access number that you are dialing is a local, toll-free call. We assume no responsibility for local toll or long distance charges incurred for the use of our service.

  15. Click the down arrow on the Country/region name and code drop-down list and choose your country.

  16. Check the box next to Use area code and dialing rules.

  17. Click the Next button.

  18. In the Connection name field, type EarthLink.

  19. Click the Next button.

  20. Click the No radio button in the Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now? area.
  21. Click the Next button.

  22. Check the box next to To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish if you wish to connect immediately.
  23. Click the Finish button.
